Centre For
Business Excellence (CBE) was established in 1989 for the purpose of helping
SME's to improve their sustainable business performance.
We recognise two
undeniable truths:
1.
That an "outsider" can see
opportunities and issues within a business that are frequently overlooked and
"invisible" to owners, directors and managers who simply are too close to
separate the wood from the trees.
2.
That the work of managers
typically involves:
a.
Routine, repetitive work.
b.
Responding to crises.
c.
Projects.
Invariably it is the projects that get left to last, frequently
started but rarely finished. However, it
is projects that make most difference to a SME.
An effectively
managed project has the following characteristics:
·
An established objective.
·
A defined life span with a
specific start and end.
·
Usually, the involvement of
several departments and professionals.
·
Typically, doing something that
has not been done before.
·
Specific time, cost and
performance requirements.
CBE specialises in
identifying and managing business and marketing projects that are designed to
make a significant contribution to the financial performance and sustainability
of SME's. The following pages list CBE
services and many of these can be designed and managed as specific
projects. We can help to form a project
team, define the project, plan it, execute it and hand it over to managers so
that there is commitment to implementation.
Involvement in the project team provides significant opportunity for
skill transfer and learning, so members are better equipped as managers at the
completion of a project.
